Insight Print and Display takes color management seriously. Due to the fact everyone sees color differently, we use state-of-the-art instrumentation and software to verify print results. If someone tells you to make a color “warmer”, what does that actually mean to you? Due to this fact we use numbers (Delta E) to verify compliance of our approved prints and industry standard methodology to verify our printers calibrations.
Printer calibrations are completed using G7 methodology. G7 calibration relies on the idea that in order to achieve color matches between different printers and different print formats, gray balance must be achieved. Once gray balance has been achieved, we are not introducing a color cast to the printed product, and it's being reproduced to the best of our printers ability.
Pantone® colors are “mapped” to our printer profile. By mapping colors to our printer profile, we can set realistic expectations with our clients on the expected end-result color. Figure 1 shows what the Pantone+ Solid Coated color library looks like compared to one of our printer gamuts.
Figures 2 and 3 demonstrate how we use software to verify our print condition to industry standards. Figure 2 shows the gray balance compliance to the ideal print density curves. Figure 3 shows the printer is passing the G7 specification for gray balance.
